Corey Menson, 14, of Seine River First Nation, Ont., passed away suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at his home at Seine River First Nation.
Corey was born May 12, 1992 in Winnipeg, Man. to Ted Menson and Karen Kabatay, and he lived lived all of his life in Seine River First Nation.
Recently, Corey had graduated from Grade 8 and was to enter Fort Frances High School this fall. He had a lot of friends at home and in Fort Frances.
He loved spending time at pow-wows and various events with his friends at home. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting.
Corey will be sadly missed very much by his parents, Ted Menson and Karen Kabatay; two sisters, Kelly and Jasmine Kabatay; maternal grandmother, Margaret Kabatay; and paternal grandmother, Lillian Boshkaykin.
He also is survived by special cousins, Johnathan, Stacy, Roberta, Myles, Eli, Douglas, Nick, and Kim; and by numerous other cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Roy Raymond Kabatay; paternal grandfather, Robert Wayash; and special Chomis Jim Boshkaykin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006 in the morning at the Seine River First Nation gymnasium in Seine River First Nation. Elder Gilbert Smith will officiate, with interment in the Seine River First Nation Cemetery.
A wake will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006 from 3 p.m. at the Seine River First Nation gymnasium.
The pallbearers will be Mike Kabatay, Bryan Kabatay, Tyrone Tenniscoe, Walden Spencer, Jason Kabatay, Gerald Johnson, Eugene Collins, Tyler Johnson, Steve Spencer, Dennis Johnson, Peter Johnson, Darcy Whitecrow-Kabatay, Gerald Morrison Sr., Gerald Morrison Jr., Ryan Potson, Vernon Menson, Ken Kabatay, Clarence Johnson, and Nathan Boshkaykin.
The honourary pallbearers will be Corey’s closest cousins and friends.
