The family of Connie Bliss, 86, of Mine Centre, Ont., wish to announce her passing on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Connie was born Nov. 8, 1918 in Fort Frances. She was united in marriage to Joe Bliss on Sept. 17, 1946 and in 1947 they settled in Mine Centre.
In 1955, they took over the family business operating the local store on the highway and Bliss’ Cabins.
In her younger years, Connie was a member of the Knox United Church and Redwing Rebekah Lodge. She also enjoyed travelling, playing the piano, and singing, as well as card games.
She leaves behind her husband, Joe; son, Joe Jr. and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Suz and husband, Craig Gustafson, Pam Lampi, and Jeff Bliss and fiancée, Gen Shepstone; and great-grandchildren, Kurtis-Blake Gustafson, Billy Lampi, and Emily Bliss.
Also surviving are her brothers-in-law, Robert Bliss, George (Ruth) Bliss, and David Bliss; and sisters-in-law, Frances McKiel and Norma Ryan.
Connie was predeceased by her son, Dennis; sisters, Muriel (Bo) Readman and Mildred (Kenneth) Treftlin; brothers, Gerald Payne and Norman (Annabelle) Payne; sister-in-law, Katie Bliss; and brothers-in-law, Frank McKiel, Daniel Bliss, and Ken Ryan.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, with Rev. Marietta Marshall officiating.
