CLIFFORD DOUGLAS CRAWFORD

Clifford Crawford, 97, of Rainycrest Long-Term Care, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., and formerly of the Golden Age Manor, Emo, Ont., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011.
Clifford was born May 22, 1913 in Chapple Township, Ont. to the late Ephram and Margaret Crawford.
Cliff grew up and lived his early years on the family farm in White hawk, Ont. On Oct. 9, 1938, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Kehf. They lived on the family farm and started raising their family.
Cliff farmed and drove school bus for many years. In 1953, they bought a farm in Blackhawk, Ont. and continued to raise their family.
Cliff served time on the Barwick council and the Blackhawk school board, and was 4-H leader for many years. He was well-liked by all his neighbours and always was willing and able to lend a helping hand when asked.
He loved to hunt, fish, garden, and play cards with all his friends. Cliff also loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In 1978, Cliff retired from farming and built a house in Emo, where he continued to garden and help his neighbours. Later, in 2000, they sold the house and moved into the Golden Age Manor until 2005, when they moved and settled at Rainycrest, where he had resided since.
Clifford leaves to mourn one son, Donald (Marlyne); son-in-law, Vernon Dungey; grandchildren, Douglas (Yvonne), Susan (Vic), Wayne, Krista (Miles), Sean, and Wayne; great-grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Jonathan, Danny, Ricky, Nathan, and Braiden; and nieces, Evelyn and Patsy.
He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice; one daughter, Carol Dungey; one brother, Norman; one sister-in-law, Mabel; and one brother-in-law, Albert.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Emo, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in the Chapple Cemetery in Barwick, Ont.
The honourary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Sean and Wayne Crawford and Doug and Wayne Dungey; and great-grandsons, Danny and Ricky Gagne and Nathan and Braiden Purdy.
