CLELAND ‘CLEE’ LUNDY

Mr. Cleland “Clee” Lundy, 62, of Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away Sunday, June 7, 1998 in hospital.
Clee was born July 31, 1935 in Emo, Ont. to Forrest and Edna Lundy. He worked in the logging industry his entire life, as an independent logger and as a supervisor with Woodlands Domitar and Multiply Plywood in Nipigon.
He was a past director of the Northwestern Ontario Truckers and Loggers Association, where he led a successful campaign against a government bill to amend the Trees Act across Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario.
Politics and political connections were one of his loves. But Clee also enjoyed his country property in Pearson, where he grew a large, excellent vegetable garden. Friends and neighbours enjoyed receiving produce from “The Clee-Mart.”
Clee was a great outdoorsman and nature lover. He enjoyed everything from hunting and fishing to picking violets and pussy-willow bouquets.
Clee also was a witty man who was especially proud of his sons and their families. He was a kind, thoughtful companion to his wife and children. He believed if you “can’t touch something and make it better, leave it alone.”
Clee is survived by his wife of 38 years Pat; sons, Drew (Cheryl) and Greg (Kathy); grandchildren, Michael, Erin, Benjamin, and Zachary; sisters, Azela McQuaker (Bill) of Fort Frances, Ont., Arlien Watts of Emo, Ont., Iola Seed (Gerald) of Calgary, Alta., Florence Watts of Stratton, Ont., and Shirley Peters (Ernest) of Kincardine, Ont.; and brothers, Jack of Crozier, Ont. and Frank (Norma) of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers, F.H. and Gary; sister and brother-in-law, Aleta and John McRae; brothers-in-law, Art Watts and John Watts; and sister-in-law, Esther Lundy.
A service of remembrance was held Wednesday, June 10, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Westfort Chapel (420 W. Gore St. at James), with Rev. Jack White officiating.
