Sadly, the family announces the passing of Clark Nielson, 92, formerly of Pattullo Township, Ont., on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Clark was born March 7, 1924 in Pattullo Township to Fred and Alice Nielson. He lived his whole life in Pattullo, except for the last two years when he spent time in Dryden, Ont. prior to moving to Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.
At an early age, Clark bought a pulp truck and over the years did many various jobs, including farming, wood-cutting and guiding on Lake of the Woods. He also worked as a mechanic in Rainy River for Marmus Shell and Armstrong’s Garage.
He was a do-it-yourself kind of person who could fix anything and make any engine run.
Clark also drove school bus for more than 20 years and will be fondly remembered by many of his passengers.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Terry (Dorothy) of Dryden, Ont., Larry (Karen) of Calgary, Alta., and Carol (Bob) of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandchildren, Barry, Daryl, Kari, Andrea, Kevin, Cindy, Owen, Amber, and Jamie; and many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clark also is survived by his sisters, Mona (Lloyd) Hartnell and Lavaun “Babe” Shrumm; and his brother, Doug Nielson.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Alice; grandson, Dale Nielson; sister, Margaret (Jody) Bjornstead; sister-in-law, Evelyn Nielson and brother-in-law, Melburne Shrumm; and his very good friend, Mary Bottenfield.
A time of fellowship will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. at the Millennium Hall in Stratton, Ont.
Interment will take place in Pineridge Cemetery in North Branch, Ont.
