Clarence “Clancy” Jourdain, 80, of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., passed away Friday, June 17, 2011.
Clarence was born Oct. 11, 1930 in Fort Frances to the late Abraham and Flora Jane Jourdain.
He held many jobs in his lifetime; his last position was at the Koochiching County Highway Department in International Falls, Mn.
He enjoyed fishing, and playing guitar with family and friends. Watching hockey, the Vancouver Canucks were his favourite team.
He was a very sociable person who enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with friends and having coffee at the Bonnie Blue. He also enjoyed visiting at the United Friendship Centre in Fort Frances.
He also was a pool player in International Falls for many years.
Clarence is survived by his common-law wife, Mary Proszek; children, Barb Lajoie (Barry Broustal), Terry Jourdain (Cindy McCormick), Laurie (Mervyn) Rose, Raylene (Rob) Hebert, Cheryl (Rocky) LaBelle, and Tony (Michelle) Marinaro, Naomi Jourdain (Ed Carrigan), Leah (Norman) Lundquist, Ruth (Michael) Demuth, Denise (Stuart) Clendenning, and Connie (Darren) Kress; and his step-son, Eddie Proszek.
He also is survived by his grandchildren, Sonny Lajoie and Danielle Broustal, Jesse Jourdain, Paul Noble, Scott, Mervyn, Thomas, and Tristyn Rose, Bobbi-Lyn Olsen, Hannah and Madeline Hebert, Terry, Doug, and Oscar LaBelle, Frances, Michael, and T.J. Marinaro, Tiffany Veldhuisen, Heidi Cahill, Brenton and Tanner Lundquist, Allan (Jorja) Demuth and Mikey Demuth, Devin and Chase Carrigan, Alyssa Clendenning, and Alicia Kress; and great-grandchildren, Chays and Xander Adams, Rio Belanger, Ethan and Jersey Rose, Preston Rose, Landin Labelle, Victoria Turnbull-Boan, Ashlyn and Stephanie Boan, and Paityn Demuth.
Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; along with special friends, Angela Bruyere, Mary Jane Mainville, Shirley Smith, and Joanne Swire.
He was predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Flora Jane Jourdain.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 9-10:15 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Couchiching First Nation.
A funeral mass will be held immediately following the visitation at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Fr. Francis Pudicherry will officiate, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Couchiching First Nation.
The pallbearers will be Charles Perrault, Ed Natawance, Steven Perrault, Dale Talgoni, Marvin Fering, and Steve Martineau.
The honourary pallbearers will be Jack Everett, Lynn Oster, Kenny Morrison, Pat Roach, Ray Klyne, Albert Calder, Gary White, Junior Lyons, Steve Mainville Sr., and Lawrence Guimond Jr.
