CLARENCE GAYLORD

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Clarence Derlen Gaylord, 98, of Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances on Saturday, June 30, 2012.
Clarence was born on November 5, 1913 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to the late Luther Gaylord and Annie Bradshaw.
He grew up in Saskatchewan on homesteads in Beaufield (near Plenty) and Robin Hood with his only brother, Allan.
He married Laura Helen Morgan in North Battleford, SK on January 2, 1940. They later moved to Fort Frances in 1941.
He served in WWII with RCAF from June 1942 to October 1945 as an aircraft technician.
Following the war, he began working at the paper mill. He later drove bus for the Town of Fort Frances, worked at McLean’s Wholesale, then was a truck driver for Coca Cola.
His most enjoyable and satisfying job was working as a custodian for the Fort Frances Board of Education for 18 years. He retired in January of 1974.
He was predeceased by his parents,; his wife, Helen, in 1962; wife, Ethel Kott, in 1992; and wife, Ann Halpenny, in 2007.
He also was predeceased by sister-in-law, Kathy Gaylord, and by great-grand daughter, Brooke Curtis, in 2008.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Barry (Shirley), Bonnie (Alan) Werenko, and Brian ( Debbie).
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Cathy (Rod) Hoard, Pamela (Brian) Curtis, Marc (Ali) Hutchinson, Jeffrey Gaylord, Kevin (Marie) Gaylord, and Graham Gaylord, as well as six great-grandchildren, one brother, Allan, and one nephew, Kenneth Gaylord
At Clarence’s request, cremation has taken place.
A graveside service to celebrate Clarence’s life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery. Reverend Barbara Miller will officiate followed by interment.
