It is with great sadness that the family of Cindy McLeod announces her passing on Tuesday, Aug. 13. 2013 in Calgary, Alta.
Cindy was born May 6, 1961 in Atikokan, Ont.
She is survived by her two sons, Kurt Mayville and Patrick Mayville, both of Calgary, Alta.
She also is survived by her parents, Jim and Jane McLeod of Fort Frances, Ont.; and brothers, Wayne (Rita), Rod (Delanie), and Jacko, all of Fort Frances, Ont., Bruce (Sande) of Denver, Colo., and Murray (Nancy) of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Cindy was a loving and caring mother—her two “boys” were everything to her as she often said in conversations. Even so, she liked to keep track of everything her many nieces and nephews did in life, as well.
Although she lived most of her life in Calgary, she truly enjoyed coming “back to nature,” returning to Fort Frances whenever she could to spend time on the lake.
She was especially proud of her aboriginal heritage and her given spirit name, expressed in English as “Standing Straight with Staff.”
At the time of her passing, Cindy was an administrator employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs in Calgary.
Cremation has taken place. At her request, there will be no funeral.
A private memorial with family members will be held in Fort Frances at a later date.
The family gratefully requests in memoriam donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca or 55 St. Clair Ave. W., Suite 500, Toronto, Ont., M4V 2Y7.
