CHRISTOPHER LOVEDAY

Christopher Loveday passed peacefully into eternity on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004 at the age of 87, succumbing to cancer.
Chris had been a resident of Atikokan General Hospital for the past two years.
He was the much-loved father and father-in-law of Edna (John) Sexsmith of Windsor, Ont., Harold (Ellen) of Atikokan, Clifford of Fort Frances, Ont., Dorothy (Dennis) Stewart of Atikokan, Ont., Debbie of Thunder Bay, Ont., Charlie (Trudy) of Turtle Lake, and Ron Johnson of Atikokan, Ont.
Chris was the long-time companion and friend of Pearl Stevens.
He also was the loving grandfather of John Sexsmith Jr., Sean Sexsmith, Korri Bilodeau, Tara Michalchuk, Brock Loveday, Gary Loveday, Allan Loveday, Christine Loveday, Brian Stewart, Cal Stewart, Chad Stewart, Trina Stewart, Sheldon Loveday, Angela Elias, Allan Johnson, Ron lolinson Jr., Gary Johnson, and Sherrie Johnson-Mullner; and proud great-grandfather of 33 great-grandchildren.
Chris also is survived by his brother, Herman; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Loveday and Myrtle Loveday; and many dear nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles arid Lily; brothers, Leonard and Raymond; and sister-in-law, Mildred.
He was an admirer of special friend Pastor Bert Baxter and his son, David.
Chris came to Canada from England at three years of age with his family, first to Saskatchewan and then to Kingsford Township in Rainy River District, where he grew up and lived for many years prior to moving to Atikokan.
He worked in logging and hauling operations until past the age of 80, and never lost his enjoyment of working on a ’dozer in the bush.
Chris cherished his family and friends as they cherished him.
He expressed many times his appreciation for the gentle care he received from the medical staff of Atikokan General Hospital, and the family wishes to acknowledge this and express their own gratitude.
Cremation has taken place in Atikokan, with interment and a service of remembrance to celebrate Chris’ life taking place Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Atikokan.
