With heavy hearts, the family of Christopher Adrian Bruyere announce his passing on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 56.
Shirley and Wallace (Swede) Bruyere welcomed their second youngest child, Chris, into the world on Dec. 11, 1962 in Fort Frances, Ont.
He grew up in the Bruyere family household on Rainy Lake Boulevard in Couchiching First Nation. As a child, Chris was often chumming around with his cousins and many other kids in the neighbourhood.
After completing high school, Chris went on to get a Marine & Small Engine Certificate before he found his passion, carpentry. He graduated in 1993 with his General Carpenter Certificate. Chris was a proud member of the Alberta Union of Carpenters Local 1325 for 16 years. He also worked as both a log haul and long haul truck driver. Through his years working, he made friends all over the country.
In 1987, Chris’s life changed when he and Vicky laid eyes on their first child and only daughter, Kristine. Almost five years later, he and Vicky welcomed their son, Ben, who was born in 1992.
Chris was a loving Dad, and always looked to his kids with a twinkle of pride in his eyes. His children were his gifts, and brought him an insurmountable amount of happiness every time he was around them. He would do anything to put a smile on their faces.
Chris shared a sense of humour that would either have you rolling your eyes, or rolling on the floor. His jokes and his ability to make you laugh were one of his best features.
He had a special way with all the kids, including his nieces and nephews, and even his great-nieces and nephews. Uncle HeeHee always made sure the kids were content and having a good time, even if that meant taking them bowling or out for some food.
Chris leaves behind his children, Kristine (James) Marengere, and Ben (Bailey) Bruyere; special friend and partner, Chrissy Baker; and his two granddaughters, and greatest joys in life, Julie Marengere and Halle Bruyere.
Also surviving are brothers, Wallace “Dozer” (Agnes), and Wesley, Keith (Carol); and sisters, Colleen (Ted) Beck, and Patty-Ann (Doug) Lee.
Chris was predeceased by his parents, Shirley and Swede; his baby brother, Sandford Bruyere; and his sisters, Valerie Lizzote, and Kim Roach.
Honourary pallbearers will be Mike “Bully” Bruyere, Jeff “Botto” Bruyere, Davey Crowe, Shane “Maynard” Jourdain, Sheldon “Mucks” Perrault, Kirk Bruyere, and Pat Roach.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 at 2 p.m.
