CHRISTINA AGNES JOYNES

Christina (Chris) Agnes Joynes passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at Mariposa Gardens at the age of 93.
Chris was born April 8, 1920 in Winnipeg, Man. but spent most of her growing up years in The Pas, Man.
She married Albert (Al) Joynes on Christmas Day in 1943. In the mid-1950s, the family (Chris, Al, and three children) moved to Fort Frances, Ont., where Chris and Al lived until after Al’s retirement.
At that time, they left the cold, snowy winters of Northern Ontario for the sunny Okanagan, B.C. to live out the rest of their lives.
Chris was predeceased by her loving husband; Al Joynes; parents, George and Elizabeth Ingram; sister, Betty Madill; and son-in law, John Kelso.
Chris will be remembered and missed by her three children, Donna Kelso, Jim Joynes, and Diane Oliver (Darcy), five granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Kathleen Langlois.
She also will be missed by several nieces and nephews; as well as all who knew her.
Chris was a registered nurse who worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital in The Pas (where she took her nursing training), at the Emo Hospital in Emo, Ont., and at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
She and Al enjoyed travelling, especially their month in New Zealand in 1992.
At Chris’ request, there will be no service. Her ashes will join those of her loving husband in Fort Frances at a later date.
In memoriam donations gratefully accepted for the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
