It is with heavy hearts that the family of Christal Henderson announces her passing on Sunday December 5, 2021, at the LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Christal was born on February 11, 1994, in Fort Frances to Eleanor Faye Hunter and Chris Henderson. She lived in Rainy River First Nation as a young girl and moved to Mitaanjigamiing First Nation after the passing of her mother. Christal was an outgoing person who loved to laugh. She enjoyed being with family and friends, attending concerts and watching videos. She was drawn to the Sky and would often take beautiful photos of sunsets and clouds.
She leaves behind her father Chris Henderson (Shauna Ottertail); partner River White; siblings River Henderson, Cadence Henderson, Leah Hunter, Tyler Hunter, Alyssa Ottertail and Joshua Ottertail; nieces and nephews Tyler Hunter, Khloe Hunter, Lincoln Hunter, Gabrielle Hunter, Draven Ottertail and Seneca Ottertail; aunts and uncles Albert, Joe, Art, Sarah, Doreen, Bob and Irene Hunter, Lorraine Cochrane Gloria Geyer, Mike, Paul, Glenda, Sherry, James E. Henderson, Bob Calder and Jay Wayash-Calder; grandparents Cecilia Henderson and Allan Calder; as well as numerous cousins.

Christal was predeceased by her mother Eleanor Faye Hunter; grandparents Albert Hunter Sr., Bella Hunter and David Henderson; uncle Abe Hunter and cousin Marcus Henderson.
A traditional funeral ceremony was held on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Mitaanjigamiing First Nation Community Hall with Elder Albert Hunter officiating.
The pallbearers were Art Hunter, Gerry Hunter, Joe Cochrane, Alex Cochrane, James Henderson, Shawn Brown, Ed Morrison and Bill Morrison
The honourary pallbearers were Kiera Singleton, Faith Kakeeway, Marissa Smith, Myranda Taylor, Brittnee Hunter, Hannah Bombay, Aidan Cochrane and Harvey Cochrane.
