CHARLES JAMIESON WATT

Charles Jamieson Watt, of the Municipality of Alberton, Ont., passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. He was born June 18, 1928 in London, Ont.
Charlie attended the University of Western Ontario and Osgoode Hall Law School, and was called to the Bar in 1954. He began his 46-year legal career in Atikokan, Ont. and moved to Fort Frances in 1962, where he worked and served the community.
Aside from his busy law practice, Charlie held various other positions, including area director for Legal Aid Ontario from 1967 until his retirement in 2000.
He also served as a Deputy Small Claims Court Judge in the District of Rainy River until the present.
Charlie was an accomplished musician, and worked his way through university playing in bands in and around southern Ontario. His love of music continued throughout his life and he will be remembered by many as a saxophone player in the local swing band, “Mood Indigo.”
He also played in the orchestra for several high school musicals and most recently with the Borderland Community Orchestra.
Charlie will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Irene; and his son, Jeffrey and wife, Valerie, and their daughter, Bailey, of Roland, Man.
At his request, a private family service will be held at a later date.
