CHARLES EDGERTON(TED) BARRAS

Charles Barras, 70, of 918 Phair Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully with his wife and granddaughter, Allyson, at his side on Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born Aug. 12, 1932 in Toronto, Ont. to the late Fred and Pearl Barras. Charles later moved to Fort Frances, where in his earlier years he enjoyed his leadership role with the Boy Scouts.
On Jan. 6, 1961, he was united in marriage to Ethel Webb.
Charles worked as a custodian at various hotels in Fort Frances until his retirement around 1981.
He also was an avid fisherman and hunter, and member of the local Sportsmen’s Club.
Charles is survived by his wife, Ethel Barras of Fort Frances, Ont.; eight children, Patricia Careri and Madeline Barras, both of Toronto, Ont., James Barras (Josephine) of International Falls, Mn., Webb Barras of Toronto, Ont., Dennis Barras (Carmen) of Atikokan, Ont., Dian (Daryl) Perrault of International Falls, Mn., Valery Barras of Fort Frances, Ont., and John Barras (Sherry Wilson) of Emo, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Barras (Gloria) of Toronto, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two children, Michael and Charlotte Barras; one sister, Ethel Khober; and one brother, Dave Barras.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Fr. Rey Ronquillo officiating.
Cremation will take place, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
Friends may visit Friday, Aug.
15, 2003 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
Honourary pallbearers will be Grandpa’s grandchildren.
