CHARLES CYRIL CANFIELD

Charles Cyril Canfield, 87, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man.
He was born March 29, 1922 in Riding Mountain, Man. to the late Alvin and Verna Canfield.
Charles moved to Fort Frances, Ont. as a child and lived there for the rest of his life.
On Feb. 14, 1942, he married Susie Dick. He enlisted in the Canadian Army shortly thereafter and served as a gunnery instructor. He also was involved in the peacekeeping in Holland.
After returning from the war, he went back to his job at Mando, retiring in 1984.
His main interests were spending time with family, camping, and serving in his church. His hobbies were counted cross-stitch and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Susie; daughters, Sandra Mitchell of Campbell River, B.C., and Gloria (Aaron) Carew and Helen (Dick) Lorette, both of International Falls, Mn.; son, Tom (June) Canfield of Victoria, B.C.; brother, Glenn Canfield of Fort Frances, Ont.; and sisters, Lillian (Claude) Risley of Winnipeg, Man. and Ruth (Dave) Vey of Comox, B.C.
Also surviving are six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Berean Baptist Chruch, 2602 Crescent Dr., International Falls, Mn.
