With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Catherine Olive Beaushene (Kay), 88, of Emo, Ont., on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Emo Health Centre.
Kay was born on Jan. 31, 1929 in Stratton, Ont. to William and Faith Bowman.
She was united in marriage to Frederick “Doug” Beaushene in 1951.
Kay worked for many years alongside her husband at Nestor Falls Bait and Tackle in Nestor Falls, Ont. She lived most of her life in Nestor Falls until three years ago, when she moved to the Golden Age Manor in Emo, where, until her recent illness, she loved meeting new friends and reuniting with her old friends at the manor and enjoying many activities.
She loved the outdoors, gardening, going to the trapper’s cabin, hunting, and fishing. Kay also enjoyed entertaining and cooking, and was well-known for her homemade Christmas candy, mustard, and hot pickles.
Her hobbies included quilting and sewing. She also was very active in the church.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her children, Judy (George) Greig of Ottawa, Ont., Ray (Linda) Beaushene of Fort Frances, Ont., Doug (Dori) Beaushene of Balmertown, Ont., and David (Michelle) Beaushene of Nestor Falls, Ont.
She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Joanna (Doug), Doug (Tarah), Michael (Sonya), Donna (Grant), Carrie ( Jody), Myndi (Wade), Nicole (Jamie), Bryan, Jon (Kasey), and Ashley (James); and her 16 great grandchildren.
She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kay was predeceased by her husband, Doug (2003), and all of her siblings.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, with Rev. Ralph Fluit officiating.
Interment will take place in the Norman Cottam Memorial Cemetery in Nestor Falls.
The honourary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
