Caroline Ardella Zucchiatti

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Caroline Zucchiatti on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at her residence at Rainycrest, at the age of 86.
Caroline was born May 15, 1926 in Bemidji, Minnesota to the late Jack and Velma Kirtland. The family later moved to International Falls, where she graduated high school. On August 17, 1944, she married Gus Zucchiatti of Fort Frances. Together they raised four children and had 38 years of happiness before Gus’ passing in 1982.
Mom was also predeceased by her sisters Beverly, Judy and Jackie; her eldest son, John; and her grandson, Bradley. She is survived by her sister Colleen Earley (Jack) of Int’l. Falls; her sons, Alan (Anne) of Fort Frances, Michael (Joan) of Midland, Ont.; her daughter, Montica McLeod of Duluth, MN; seven granddaughters, and five great-granddaughters.
Mom will be remembered as a loving mother, always concerned about the well-being of her family.
Caroline had numerous medical hardships in her later years, including the endurance of 10 years of dialysis. Mom received compassionate and tender care at both Rainycrest and the Dialysis Unit at Riverside. She often referred to her nurses there as her “Loving Angels.” As a family, we feel blessed to have such wonderful medical services here at home.
At Caroline’s request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Riverside Health Care Facilities Dialysis Unit or to Rainycrest in her memory.
May songs of the angels welcome you
And guide you
along your way
May the smiles of the
martyrs greet your own
As darkness turns into day
Ev’ry fear will be undone
And death will be no more
As songs of the angels
bring you home
Before the face of God
