CAROL WILSON

It is with shining hearts that family and friends celebrate the memorable and enjoyable life of Carol Ann Wilson (nee Shaffer) which was defined by her warmth, laughter, and endless smiles.

Carol was born in Dryden, Ontario, on August 20, 1949, to Wesley Shaffer and Mary Shaffer (nee Dixon).

Carol met and married the love of her life, Willie Wilson (Asinii-inini) and moved to Manitou Rapids in the late 1960’s. Living along the highway (and later on the main townsite where she would listen to the rapids each evening), Carol became a pillar of the community. She would become involved in many things such as the Pow Wow Committee, learning history from the late Jim Leonard Sr., volunteering, ricing, driving bus, and supporting all who needed a hug or a visit. She enjoyed visiting family and friends, travelling, watching her son Dean and granddaughter Emma play hockey, and listening to music.

Carol peacefully began her journey home on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.

It has been said that a droplet in the ocean will continue to ripple near and far. Carol’s warmth, impact, and spirit will do so forever.

Welcoming her home is her husband Willie; son Robbie; and many more who no doubt prepared an amazing party in her honour as she arrived.

Continuing to cherish her memory (and continuing to tell many stories of when she made us laugh) is her son Dean; granddaughter Emma; sister Sandy, Cameron and Connor, Allison Eide, Aaron, Laura, Cathy, Marcel Horton, Lisa Mikonini, Rob Horton, Joanne Bruyere, Sherry Loveday, Lois Auger, Jackie, Connie, Robert Bombay, Juanita Connon, Alan and Shawn Eide; and many more friends to whom she shared her warmth.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rainy River First Nations gymnasium.

Interment will immediately follow at the Rainy River First Nations cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
