CAROL MARGARET DUNGEY

Carol Margaret Dungey was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, surrounded by her loving family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Carol was born Sept. 4, 1941 in Emo, Ont. to Clifford and Beatrice Crawford.
On Oct. 15, 1959, Carol married the love of her life, Vernon Dungey. They moved to Ignace, Ont. and helped Dorothy and John Dungey run the White Rose gas station and restaurant.
In 1961, they began Vern’s Minnows and ran their successful business until 1995.
Carol’s life was centred around her family. Her grandchildren were very precious to her. She enjoyed watching the boys’ hockey games, driving them everywhere, playing with Katie, or just spending time with them all.
Carol was an avid volunteer. She was a Lioness for more than 25 years and spent many hours as the church treasurer, council Commission of Faith, and E.C.W member at the Emmanuel Anglican/United Church.
Her faith was important to her.
She also was a dedicated White Elephant supporter and assistant. She was a lady of great integrity; her quiet, caring presence will be missed by all.
Carol was a loving and devoted wife to Vernon; cherished mother to Doug (Andrea), Susan (Vic), and Wayne; and special grandmother to Danny and Ricky Gagne, and Katie and Megan Dungey.
She also is survived by her parents, Clifford and Beatrice Crawford; brother, Don (Marlyn); mother-in-law, Dorothy Dungey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Carol was predeceased by her uncle, Albert Kehl; father-in-law, John Dungey; and brother-in-law, Art Dungey.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 at 11 a.m in the Emmanuel Anglican/United Church in Ignace, with Rev. Jeanne Bryan officiating.
Friends so wishing to do so may make an in memoriam donation to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, Ont., P8N 2X3.
