It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Edna Gladys Angus. She passed away peacefully at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario, on September 4, 2026, at the age of 69.
Carol was born in Emo, Ontario, on March 17, 1957, the youngest child of Bill and Gladys Smith.
Carol was the beloved wife of Bob Angus, and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Bob and Carol celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 29, 2025. It was probably the first time in our lives that we were successfully able to keep a secret from her.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Bob; and by her children Darren (Jodi) and Stacey; and her most cherished grandchildren Tucker, Gavin, Callen, Charlie and Easton.
She took her role as Grammy most seriously. She loved every minute she got to spend with her grandkids, especially all her years as a very dedicated hockey Grandma. She spent her winters in arenas and summers at the ball diamond, and would not have changed a second of it.
In earlier years, Carol could often be found at the cabin on Perch Lake with Auntie Phyllis and Auntie Anne, reading books, playing boardgames, enjoying a little wine, and giggling their heads off. Or she could be found in Blackhawk, over at the M’s, visiting, laughing and waiting for a potluck to break out.
Carol worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life, working with so many amazing people that became her lifelong friends. Kelly, Pete, Nadia, Amos, Heidi, Timo, Jurgen and Shona were more like family than co-workers or bosses. She still had not retired from MNP as she loved the crew there and her clients.
Carol was especially close with her sister Louise, and loved living closer to her these last few years. They spent so much time at Tour de Fort and going to country music festivals. The stories they brought home from their many (mis)adventures still bring smiles and giggles.
Carol will be dearly missed by her sister Louise, and family (Kim Jo, Shane, Char, Maddy and Marlee). Her huge Angus family will miss her insistence of making every celebration into a potluck and the need to take pictures of everyone there. Her extended family on both sides will miss her quick wit and ability to welcome everyone into thoughtful conversation.
She was predeceased by her parents and many special people in her large extended family.
A celebration of life for Carol was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo. A luncheon followed at the Emo Legion Hall in Emo.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date for interment.
