At his residence on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, Byrtle A. Kozachenko passed away at the age of 72.
Byrtle was born Feb. 26, 1935 in Dewart Township, Ont. to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Advent) Kozachenko.
Together with his wife, Judy, they operated a dairy farm and raised their family near North Branch, Ont. His family was very important to Byrtle and he always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy (nee Lind) of 40 years; and their children, Rhoda (Brian) Oakes of Fort Frances, Ont., Shellie (Greg) Chaput of Selkirk, Man., and Patrick Kozachenko of Fort Frances, Ont.
He also will be sadly missed by his five grandchildren, Justin, Aaron, Thomas, Alexander (A.J.), and Malana.
He also is survived by one brother, Joseph (Bev) Kozachenko; sister, Vicki (Joe) Dlugosz; mother-in-law, Shirley (late Vernon) Lind; and many nieces and nephews.
Byrtle was predeceased by his son, Thomas; brothers, Karl and Stan; and sisters, Karolyn, Jennie, Charlotte, and Olga.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007 at 1 a.m. at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in North Branch, with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
Pallbearers were Bob Woolsey, Fern Pelletier, Aaron Oakes, Thomas Oakes, Justin Kozachenko, and Alexander Carmody.
Honourary pallbearers were Milton Bye, Mike Neilson, Clayton Brinkman, Stan Strecker, and Roy Elias.
