Brian Jones, 27, of 132 Bayview Dr., Nicickousemenecaning First Nation, Ont., passed away at his residence Monday, March 22, 1999.
He was born Jan. 26, 1972 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Raymond Allan and Nancy Jones.
Brian lived most of his life in Nicickousemenecaning First Nation. He had worked for about three years as a counsellor at “The Training and Learning Centre,” and most recently had been attending Lakehead University in Thunder Bay.
Brian loved and enjoyed various sports, including hockey, baseball, and volleyball, and as well loved hunting and fishing.
Brian was predeceased by his father, Raymond Allen in 1979; step-father, John Jones Sr. on March 7, 1989; and one sister, Shirlee Jones on May 26, 1994.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy Jones of Nicickousemenecaning First Nation, Ont.; two sisters, Becky and husband, Arnold Kingbird, and Sue Ann Jones and husband, Duane Allen, all of Nicickousemenecaning First Nation, Ont.; four brothers, Don Jones and wife, Melanie Nastiuk, John Jones Jr. and wife, Tannis Smith, Dennis Jones and wife, Lorraine, and Dan Jones and wife, Gail; niece, Tania Jones and husband, Bob Calder, and numerous other nieces and nephews, all of Nicickousemenecaning First Nation, Ont.; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A traditional burial was held Friday, March 26, 1999 in the morning at the Nicickousemenecaning First Nation Gymnasium. Elder Jim Windigo provided traditional services, with burial in Nicickousemenecaning First Nation Burial Grounds.
A wake was held Thursday, March 25, 1999 from 3 p.m. at the Nicickousemenecaning First Nation Gymnasium.
Pallbearers were Sam Mason, Gary Windigo, Clayton Windigo, William Windigo, Chris McPherson, and Terry Allan.
Honourary pallbearers were Ernest Indian, Carl Big George Jr., Daryl Archie, and Joe Dobransky.
