Saa gaate Anung – Shining Star

It is with great sadness that Brett’s family announce his passing, on August 17, 2025, in Couchiching First Nation, Ontario. Brett was born on March 31, 2006, in Fort Frances, Ontario, to parents Shelley Jourdain and Derek Brown.

He is survived by his mother Shelley Jourdain and father Derek Brown; sister Renaya Jourdain and brother Kaileb Brown; partner Brooke Tryvainen and daughter Amelia (Meels); special uncle Abby Kratky; and grandparents Everett Jourdain (Papa), Wendy Kratky (Grama), Ritta Johnson (Grama), Edward Brown (Grandpa) and  Corey (O’Neill).

He was predeceased by Uncle Cyle Jourdain.

A wake will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, starting at 4:00 p.m. at Couchiching Multiuse Facility with Traditional service on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Elder Tommy Councillor will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Evan Hamilton, Jack Jones, Stanley Johnson, Zakk Bruyere, Carter Morrisseau and Austin Morrisseau. Honourary pallbearers will be Kaileb Brown, Sister Renaya Jourdain, Elizabeth, Mya, Paris, Jaylyn, Leonah and cousins and numerous aunts and uncles.
