BLANCHE BLASKY

Blasky, Blanche

The family of Blanche Blasky is deeply saddened to announce her passing on February 5, 2021 at the age of 91 at La Verendrye General Hospital.

Blanche was born in Fort Frances on December 13, 1929 to John and Eva Prymak, and made Fort Frances her home.

Blanche was predeceased by her parents, John and Eva; brother Walter; sister-in law Lucille; and son Wayne.

Survived by son Gary (Felix); grandchildren and their families, Kael (Natalie Perrin and her daughter Everly), Rylee (Alex Wepruk and their daughter Ellie); sister Teeny Woyden; daughter-in law Patti (Don Roth); and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Blanche was an avid bowler in her younger days and proud of bowling her way across Canada representing Northwestern Ontario in the Western 5-Pin Bowling Association and bringing home several trophies.

Blanche made her career as a telephone operator, first with the town of Fort Frances, then with Bell Canada. When Bell closed the switchboard operation in Fort Frances, Blanche started at LVGH as a dietary aide, retiring in 1994.

Blanche was well known for her gardening skills and beautifully kept corner lot yard. She sent peony bouquets with Kael & Rylee to their grade-school teachers, baskets of freshly picked raspberries for friends and staff at LVGH and provided her family with abundant gatherings of garden-fresh vegetables for years.

Blanche kept her loved ones close and never stopped caring for or worrying about them. She was pleased to pass on her pristine 1998 Honda Civic to Kael, always asking if it was running well. She was thrilled to be able to attend Rylee & Alex’s wedding and even more so to see and hold her great-granddaughter Ellie. Even in her last hours Ellie could light up her face.

According to Blanche’s wishes, there will be no service.
