BLAKE NICOL

Blake Nicol, 85, of Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Born on July 4, 1924 in Winnipeg, Man., he was raised and educated in Fort Frances, Ont.
Blake married Elsie Isberg on Sept. 30, 1949.
Blake worked as district supervisor for the LCBO until retiring in 1986 after 36 years with the board. Earlier in his career, Blake worked for the LCBO in Rainy River, Ont. and Atikokan, Ont.
He was a very proud father and grandfather, watching his four grandsons’ many ball and hockey games.
Blake and Elsie enjoyed many winters in Harlingen, Tex. He also faithfully attended morning coffee with his friends at McDonald’s.
His strong will and humour kept him going.
Blake is survived and dearly missed by his wife, Elsie; son, Bob, and grandsons, Christopher and Matthew; daughter, Margaret (Al Hackner), and grandsons, Andrew and Graham; and brother, Murray of Edmonton, Alta.
Blake was predeceased by his parents, Lorna and C.R.S. “Nick” Nicol; and sister, Jean Jensen of Fort Frances, Ont. and Stuart Nicol of Toronto, Ont.
Blake’s Fort Frances family includes nephews, Doug Jensen and Peter Jensen; and sister-in-law, Helen Broman, and nephews, Doug Broman, Gary Broman, Mark Broman, and David Broman. Niece, Gail, resides in Edmonton, Alta.
Cremation has taken place. No funeral service was Blake’s wish.
