Betty Johnson, 72, of Stanjikoming First Nation, Ont., passed away Friday, May 31, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Dec. 5, 1929 in Seine River First Nation, Ont. Betty grew up at Seine River but in later years moved to Stanjikoming First Nation, where she became a band member.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Russell Kenny; and one sister, Irene Whitecrow.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Lena Webster of Kingston, Ont., and Phyllis Webster of Sudbury, Ont.; two grandchildren, Alanna and Nathan Webster, both of Sudbury, Ont.; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A traditional burial service will be held Wednesday morning, June 5, 2002 at the family home in Stanjikoming First Nation. Elder Gilbert Smith will officiate, with interment in Stanjikoming First Nation Cemetery.
A wake will be held Tuesday evening, June 4, 2002 at the family home in Stanjikoming First Nation.
Pallbearers will be Shane Whitecrow, Mike Henderson, Norman Girard, Sheldon Whitecrow, Paul Henderson, Roy Morrison, and Ed Morrison.
