Sadly, the family announces the passing of Betty Jean Jewell, 91, of Fort Frances, Ontario, on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
Betty was born April 10, 1931, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to parents Robert and Alice Couch.
She was married to the late Tony Massaro Sr. and together they had four children: Ron (Carol), Gordon (Jessica), Linda and Tony Jr. (Lou).
In October 10, 1969, Betty married Allan Jewell and together they had two children, Joanne and George (Michelle).
Betty is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Florence (late Alfred) Bennell, Sharon (Ross) McGregor; brother-in-law Bunny Massaro; and special nephews Mark and Paul Marostica.
Betty was predeceased by sisters Rose (Guido “Mars”) Marostica and Ada (Oke) Ketonen; and only brother Stuart (Margaret).
Betty and Allan were RV travellers, making many trips to music shows, NASCAR races and winter trips to Florida, Arizona and Texas. Texas was their favourite and they spent a number of winters there.
In accordance with Betty’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place in Emo Cemetery at a later date.
