BETTY BERGER LESSARD

Funeral services for Betty Berger Lessard, 82, of Namakan Lake, were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997 at the Crane Lake Chapel. Rev. Craig Haberman officiated.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral, with interment in the Forest Home Cemetery of Buyck, Mn. Arrangements were made by the Mlaker Funeral Home of Cook, Mn.
Betty passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 1997 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born July 15, 1915 in Fort Frances, the daughter of Neil and Isabelle (Rudolph) Berger. She grew up and attended school in Fort Frances. She first spent summers at Namakan Lake, then moved there, where she lived the rest of her life.
On Aug. 24, 1955 in Fort Frances, she married Leon Lessard, who predeceased her in July, 1956.
Betty was an outdoors person. She was a guide, trapper, pilot of her own plane, mink farm owner, and operator of Berger’s Trading Post and Cabins on Namakan Lake for the past 15 years.
She is survived by one nephew, Andrew Neil (Mary) Scott of Moutltrie, Ga.; one niece, Glennda Scott, of Crane Lake, Mn.; four grand-nieces, Kathy (Roger) Connor of Huntington Beach, Cal., Debora Scott of Shoreview, Mn., Lori Douglas of Mounds View, Mn., and Amy (Lance) Ulen of Circle Pines, Mn.; one grand-nephew, Darrell (Carole) Scott of Crane Lake, Mn.; and cousins, Judy (Edward) DeMarrais and Joan Melvin, both of Massachusetts, and Jane (Rudy) Sadler of Albuquerque, N.M.
