Bernice Violet Miller (nee Hendren), 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born March 27, 1914 in Aylsworth, Ont. to the late Fred and Mabel Hendren.
On June 21, 1950, Bernice married Robert (Bob) Miller and they took up residence on their farm in La Vallee, Ont., where they lived for almost 30 years.
Bernice liked to work in her garden, and enjoyed knitting, embroidering, and reading, especially poems. She also enjoyed receiving and writing letters and cards from many relatives and close friends.
Bernice never forgot a birthday or special occasion.
Bob and Bernice moved to Fort Frances in May of 1980, where she was a member of Rainycrest Club 27.
As Bernice’s health failed, she moved to Rainycrest. She enjoyed her time there and was an active participant in many of the home’s activities.
Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob); sisters, Laura Kjerstad and Mary Ellen Munro (Jim); brothers, Hilliard and Gordon Hendren; brothers-in-law Geo Ossachuk, Jim Munro, Louis Schaber, Einar Kjerstad, and Henry, Clifford, Holmes, James, and William Miller; sisters-in-law, Irene Hendren, Lydia Link, and Edna, Bethel, and Mrytle Miller (Brown); and her favourite niece, Janice Ross.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Mary) Munro and their children, Jonathan and Mark; sister, Elva Ossachuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both the Miller and Hendren sides.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Barbara Miller officiated, with interment in the Devlin Cemetery in Devlin, Ont.
The pallbearers were Gary Miller, John Ross, Keith Munro, Jack Munro, Jonathan Munro, and Mark Munro.
