Beatrice Lillian Wilde, 88, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Thursday, April 15, 2004.
She was born Jan. 3, 1916 in Fort Frances to the late John and Elizabeth McQuarrie. Following high school graduation, she continued on to North Bay Normal School to become a teacher.
Her first teaching position was at the Darby Rock School at #6 Pattullo and Sifton, north of Stratton, Ont., in 1934. Following teaching in Crozier and McIrvine schools, Beatrice joined the staff of Robert Moore School in Fort Frances in 1938, where she taught until her marriage.
Beatrice was a long-time member of the Eastern Star. She was presented with her 50-year pin at a tea arranged by her Star sisters at Rainycrest on Oct. 15, 2000.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Wilde in 1990; her son, Jeff Wilde; and one brother, Stuart McQuarrie.
Beatrice is survived by her son, Craig Wilde of Thunder Bay, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Judy Wilde of Ottawa, Ont.; granddaughter, Joanna and husband, Steven Nolan, of Kingston, Ont.; grandson, Doug Wilde and wife, Tara, of North Gover, Ont.; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Todd Statham officiating. Interment will take place in Fort Frances Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
