It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Beatrice Hazel Wood, on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the age of 77.
She passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
Beatrice was born in Fort Frances on June 20, 1932. She lived in the east end of town until she married Arthur Wood on April 28, 1950.
Beatrice was a member of the Knox United Church, as well as the Women’s Institute. She was avid about her knitting and crocheting, and took great pride in making baby sweater sets for the La Verandrye Hospital Auxiliary.
Working with her flowers, gardening, and cooking for her family made her happy. Family was very special to Beatrice.
She is survived by her four children, Brenda and husband, Garry Franson, of Hinton Alta., Bruce Wood and wife, Connie (nee Perrier), of Alberton Township, Ont., and Gail and husband, Doug Langtry, and Glen Wood and Diane (nee Bedard), all of Fort Frances, Ont.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by two sisters, Violet Hands of Fort Frances, Ont. and Helen Stirling of Calgary Alta.; one brother, Carl of British Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Edith Richert of Fort Frances, Ont. and Alice Shurvell of Brandon, Man.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; her parents, Albert and Ella Wood; stepmother Grace; brother, Henry Wood; and sisters, Myrtle Wall, Edna Roste, Irene Beer, Elsie Miller, Maria Erickson, and Annie Willis.
Cremation has taken place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Mn.
At Beatrice’s request, there will be a private family graveside service.
