BASIL ALBERT EIDE

Basil Albert Eide, 66, of 1057 River Rd. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man. on Sunday, May 24, 1998.
He was born April 20, 1932 in Midale, Sask. to the late Albert and Margit Eide.
Mr. Eide was a long-time resident of Fort Frances, having lived here since 1943. He was employed with Ontario Hydro Forestry from 1952 to 1989, when he retired.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping on Lake of the Woods. He also loved gardening, visiting with his “Hydro family” and his neighbours, and was an avid dog lover. His greatest love, though, was spending time with his wife of 42 years, his children, and grandchildren.
Basil was united in marriage Feb. 24, 1956 to the former Greta Sparks, who survives with two children, Twyla and husband, Mark Howarth, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Terry and wife, Jennifer, of Devlin, Ont.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Scott, Jill, and Alex; one sister, Jessie and husband, Don Westover, of Emo, Ont.; one brother, Cecil Eide and wife, Dorothy, of Hardisty, Alta.; sister-in-law, Helen Eide of Fort Frances, Ont.; brother-in-law, Adelard Gladu of Fort Frances, Ont.; numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; as well as his best friend, “Rusty.”
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Margit Eide; his stepmother, Eve Eide; one brother, Elmer Eide; and one sister, Millie Gladu.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, May 27, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Mr. Larry Arch officiating.
Cremation has taken place in Winnipeg, with interment to follow at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers were his family, friends, and co-workers.
