It is with broken hearts that, we, the family of Barbara Ann Raine announce her passing on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 72.
Barb was born on April 4, 1948 in Dryden, Ont. Over the years, she resided in the Dryden area, Thunder Bay and Fort Frances. No matter where she went, she left a trail of happiness, effortless love and memories. She was a hard worker and made many friends whom she worked with at MacMillian Bloedel, Rainy Lake Hotel and Lake Despair Lodge.
Her greatest loves were her family, her friends, camping and fishing with Rick… especially when the day ended around a campfire. She always had a story to tell, and a novel to be read. With Barb, there was never a shortage of laughs, and quite often you’d laugh so hard the tears ran down your legs.
You could always find her with a smile on her face, but watch out for that twinkle in her eye! She was as mischievous as they came; leave her unattended and there would be vodka in the meatballs. However, she truly was a master-chef in the kitchen, even if there were only two ingredients. Her recipes were one of a kind and were often done in the forms of: ‘dash’, ‘glug’ and ‘pinch’.
Barbara may have been small but she was mighty. If there was a will, there was a way….especially due to her stubbornness. She was so resilient as a cancer survivor, so stoic throughout her years with lung disease and her courageous strength will always be idolized.
She leaves behind her husband Rick Lindholm; children Shelley (Andrew) Halow, Twilla (Shawn) Stewart, and Brent Raine; grandchildren Jacob, Andrea, Mitchell, Jeffery, Curtis, Jaymie, Levi and Dylan; great-grandchildren Kayden, Chloe, Sophia; siblings Patsy Cameron and Rocky (Adeline) Cameron; sister-in-law Sophie Cameron; brother-in-law Dorian (Judy) Lindholm; as well as many nieces and nephews.
We weren’t her only loved ones. Mom also loved her Lake Despair Family, for which we are forever grateful to each and everyone of you!
Barb was predeceased by her parents Allan and Helmy Cameron; siblings Scotty Cameron, Loretta Barboni, Verna Larocque and Darrell Peterson; parents-in-law Bruno and Mary Lindholm.
As per Barb’s wishers, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. To honour our Mom we will wait until a time when we can gather together without the restrictions of the pandemic. We know that our Mom would want for us to get together to eat, laugh and share stories.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lung Association in care of Green Funeral Home, Box 427, 600 Reid Avenue, Fort Frances, ON, P9A 3M8.
