AUDREY THOMSON

After spending the day with many family and friends, Audrey Thomson slipped away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Sept. 19, 1929 in Duluth, Mn. to Benjamin and Minnie Langtry, with the family moving to Fort Frances when she was a small girl.
She was united in marriage to Elgin Thomson on Nov. 19, 1949. Together, they operated the local Dairy Queen for many years.
After turning the store over to her son, Bob, she operated Audel’s Hallmark shop.
Audrey was a 69-year member of the Knox United Church and United Church Women. She also was a member of the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary and the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 Ladies’ Auxiliary.
She loved spending her mornings over coffee at the Dairy Queen—each day of the week with a regularly-scheduled partner. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, and entertaining, and was an avid Bridge player.
Audrey leaves behind her daughters, Sheryl (Fred) Laverdure of Fort Frances, Ont. and Lana Thomson of Port Dover, Ont.; son, Jack (Marla) Thomson of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughter-in-law, Bev Thomson of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also left to mourn are her grandchildren, Sara (Nick) Kawulia, Benjamin (Tammy) Christian, Candice (Kris) Kadikoff, Christin Thomson, and Jason (Tara) Thomson; and great-grandchildren, Gabi and Anna Peters, Eliza and Makayla Kawulia, Treydon, Ashton, Caleb, and Kira Thomson, and Nolan Kadikoff; brother, Gerald (Laurel) Langtry of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Also considered as members of the Langtry family are Margaret Katona and her family.
Audrey had been warmly welcomed into the family of the late Herb Cridland and she will be missed by his family, Donna (Joan), Duane (Grace), Doug (Caron), Diane (Blair), Laura (Derek), and Verna, and their children.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ben and Minnie; husband, Elgin; son, Bob; sister, Val and Herb Henry; and nephew Doug Henry.
