Aubrey Leveridge, 88, passed away June 23, 2004 at Trail, B.C. He was born on the family farm in Burriss, Ont. on Feb. 22, 1916 to Burriss pioneer parents John and May Agnes Leveridge.
Aubrey spent his childhood years on the family farm and attended Burriss Consolidated school with his brother and sisters. As an adult, he took over the farm for a few years and also worked as an auto mechanic in Emo.
In 1949, he was lured to the mountains of British Columbia and with his young family settled in Castlegar, where he worked and lived the rest of his life.
Aubrey is survived by his wife, Helen of Kelowna, B.C.; son, Gary (Marcia) of Ardmore, Alta.; son, Dennis of Trail, B.C.; daughter, Jean (Rob) Hitchins of Castlegar, B.C.; daughter, Shelley of Buenos Aires, Argentina; and son, Neil of Taipei, Taiwan; and sisters, Alice Corrigan of Fort Frances, Ont., and Lorna Coulson of Cranbrook, B.C.
He also is survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Clarke of Devlin, Ont.
Aubrey loved the outdoors, including hiking, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing, and photography, and was a great gardener.
No funeral was held by request.
A memorial gathering was held in Castlegar, B.C. at the home of his daughter, Jean, on Saturday, June 26, 2004.
