ARTHUR WILLIAM VENNE
It is with great sadness that the family announces the quick passing of Art Venne, 77, of Emo, Ont. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007.
Art was born June 14, 1929 in Rawdon, Que. to Peter and Cathleen Venne. The family moved to Rainy River District when Art was just three months old and he has resided in this area all of his life.
On Oct. 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Marion Strachan.
He cut pulpwood and worked as an owner/operator in trucking for 30 years of his life. In his spare time, Art enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling, going to auctions, going for long walks, and having coffee/visiting with his friends in many of the restaurants of the district.
He recently had attended poker games in Stratton and Emo, which gave him great pleasure.
He leaves behind his wife, Marion of Emo, Ont.; two sons, Donald (Patsy) and Garry (Diane) of Emo, Ont.; three daughters, Lynn Venne and Lois (Guy Simmons), of Emo, Ont., and Lucille (Rick Fecho) of Dryden, Ont.; grandchildren, Robert (April) Simmons, Michelle Simmons (Curtis McKenzie), Michael Simmons, Nicole Simmons, Tina Venne, Jason Venne, Matthew Venne, William (Venne) Smith, and Lynette (Venne) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Zack Simmons and Heather Smith
Also surviving are his brothers, Marty (Josie) of Freelton, Wilfred (Darlene) of Brandford, and Gerald (Gertie) of Shebandowan; sisters, Beatrice Bolger of Timmins, Kay (Len Shannon) of International Falls, Lauretta (Dave Woodgate) of Devlin, and Rosalyn Plummridge of Moose Jaw; sisters-in-law, Grace (Fred Angus) and Helen Pamer, all of Emo, Ont., and Leona Venne of Millgrove; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Art was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Cathleen Venne; parents-in-law, Albert and Violet Strachan; sister, Irene (Smith) Doucette; brother, Peter Venne; and brothers-in-law, Martin Bolger, Vernon Smith, Paul Plummridge, Henry Doucette, and James Pamer.
A visitation for friends and family was held Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 from 1-3 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
