Arthur John Strand, 64, of Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away unexpectedly at Port Arthur General Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. on Saturday, April 22, 2000.
He was born Dec. 14, 1935 in Fort Frances, Ont. and had lived many years in Fort Frances.
Art enjoyed hunting and fishing and, in his earlier years, worked as a guide on Rainy Lake. He was known for having a good memory and loved to tell stories from years ago.
Art was an avid hockey fan having played in his earlier years. He often spent time at the arena watching hockey games and visiting with the players.
The family includes his mother, Gertrude of Fort Frances, Ont.; one sister, Shirley and husband, Gerald Nixon, of Fort Frances, Ont.; two brothers, Bob Strand and wife, Ann, and John Strand Jr. and wife, Rosmairi, all of International Falls, MN.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, John Strand Sr. on Feb. 27, 1966.
Memorial services will be held Friday, May 5, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Rev. Patrick Playfair will officiate, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Honourary pallbearers will be all of Art’s friends.
