It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur Geyshick announces his passing on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at the LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont..

Art was born on July 20, 1943 to Joe Geyshick and Lillian Whitefish in Lac La Croix First Nation. He grew up in Lac La Croix and enjoyed the outdoors. He worked as a guide, trapping and construction. He enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins, Blue Jays and wrestling. He loved country music and helped people with their path to healing. His crazy sense of humour will be missed by his friend and family.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Sara; son Arthur Ashley Geyshick Jr.; grandson Dylan Geyshick; in-laws Geraldine Potson, Linda Oshaway (Mike Kabatay), Glenda Maria Potson, Randy Kabatay (Frances), Karen Kabatay and John Kabatay Sr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Art was predeceased by his parents; brothers Henry (Helen), Bob and Sam; sisters Evelyn Lightfeather and Helen Jordan; and in-laws Archie Potson, June Kabatay and Wanda K. Kabatay.

Traditional Midewin burial rites were conducted by Mide’Kiwenzie and his midewiin helpers Danny Geyshick, Curtis Atatise and Carla Lightfeather, Margaret Ottertail, Dorothy Whitefish and Sharon Morrison at Seine River First Nation, Ontario on Saturday, July 17, 2021.

The pallbearers were Mike Kabatay, John Kabatay, Walden Spencer, Steve Spencer, Ted Menson, Gerald Johnson, Stacy Kabatay, Aiden Kabatay, Nathan Boshkaykin, Chris Spencer and Jeremy Potson.

The ceremony helpers were Sherri Kabatay, Tracy Kabatay, Shelly Kabatay, Shannon Kabatay, Karen Kabatay and Geraldine Potson.
