Arthur Daniel McMahon

Arthur Daniel McMahon, of 31 Drewry Dr., Kenora, Ont., passed away Monday, July 22, 2002 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.
Art was born Sept. 19, 1921 at Stratton, Ont., the son of Terry and Angeline McMahon. He attended public and separate school in Stratton and then high school in Rainy River, Ont.
Art married Hilda, daughter of John and Mary Lengyel of Stratton, on June 25, 1952.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Hilda; four sons, Ronald, Murray (Susan), Tim (Cathy), and Michael; and three daughters, Sheryl (Don) Olson, Linda (Jack) Neniska, and Trish (Roger) Horton, all of Kenora, Ont.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Austin, Tammy, Lisa (Laird), Kristen (Adam), Carmen (Dan), Samantha (Chris), Stefanie, Kyle, Nicole, Mitchell, Tyler, Matthew, and Amy; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Sydney Rose.
He also is survived by numerous cousin, nieces, and nephews.
Art was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Bill, Bud (Ella), Don (Doris), and Richard; and five sisters, Gertie (Sisco), Evelyn (Oster), Joyce, Margurite (Fletcher), and Jean (Marchuk).
Art loved sports—baseball, hockey, and football—and was an ardent fisherman and hunter. He spent most of his working days with J. A. Mathieu in the Fort Frances and Sapawe area, and with Mando and Boise in the Camp Robinson and Kenora areas as Scaler-Camp Foreman.
He spent nine years (1956-1965) with Kenora Hydro as clearing supervisor and with the Kenora Board of Education as custodian. Art retired in 1984.
His favorite pasttime was playing crib with his Legion friends.
Cremation has taken place, with interment at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery. It will be a private family service.
