ART PATTISON

Arthur (Art) James Pattison passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont. in his 85th year.
He was born Arthur James Connor to Elsie and Leonard Connor on April 27, 1928. He lost his mother as an infant and was taken in by his parents, Willis and Gladys Pattison.
He was predeceased by his parents, Willis and Gladys Pattison.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma Doreen Pattison. Also surviving are Jim (Laureen) and granddaughter, Nadine, of Prince Albert, Sask. and Larry (Colleen) and grandson, William, of Amherstview, Ont.
Art was born in Rainy River District and lived here for almost his entire life. He began working at Loney’s grocery store in Emo, Ont. and also worked at the Department of Highways in Emo before moving to Fort Frances.
He worked as a Canada Customs officer for more than 30 years, spending most of this time at the port of entry at Fort Frances, with additional assignments at Prairie Portage (Quetico Park) and Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
After his retirement, Art became involved in Rawleigh and Watkins sales, and participated in the early days of the Clover Valley Farmers’ Market in Fort Frances.
In retirement, Art and Norma enjoyed camping and, while health allowed, they would make a trip each year east and west to see family.
Art was an elder for many years at Knox United Church, and was an active participant in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Manitou Lodge of the Masonic Order.
He also was active on committees of the Fort Frances Community Credit Union for many years.
Art enjoyed photography and had a wide array of cameras.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Cremation has taken place, with interment to follow in the Emo Cemetery at a later date.
