ARMALINE R. ‘MACKIE’ MAINVILLE

It is with great sadness that the family of Armaline R. “Mackie” Mainville announces her sudden passing on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at her home.
Armaline was born Aug. 30, 1940 in Couchiching First Nation to the late Frederick and Clara Mainville. She was raised in Couchiching, attending residential school as a young girl.
She travelled as a young woman, settling in New York, where she worked for a short time.
Although Mackie did not like to talk about it, she suffered severely from arthritis. This limited her ability to work and she returned to Couchiching First Nation to be near her family.
She never allowed her disability to slow her down—she was always out and about in the community, visiting family and friends. Mackie also enjoyed Bingo and playing cards with her friends at the seniors’ club.
She was a true caregiver, always helping in anyway. She also was a proud supporter of many church organizations, as well as numerous animal shelters.
Mackie was a woman of great faith.
She also enjoyed being outdoors, and loved watching and feeding the animals. Some of her closest companions were her kitties, Sam, DoDo, and Aggie.
In the last year as her body failed her, she became to rely on others. She was eternally grateful to Dr. Nugent, the nurses at La Verendrye Hospital, as well at Pat Singleton for their help and support.
She leaves behind her stepson, Troy Marschalk (Carla) and his sons, Jesse and Jackson; brothers and sisters, Elmer (Bessie) Mainville of Couchiching First Nation, Madeline Tucker of Fort Frances, Ont., Eugene Douglas Mainville (Bonnie) of Palmyra, N.Y., and Sandra Mainville of Duluth, Mn.; numerous nieces and nephews with their families; and her kittie, Sam.
Mackie was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Clara; partner, Lyn Marschalk; sister, Dolly Roach; brother, Wally Mainville; numerous nieces and nephews; and her kitties, DoDo and Aggie.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m., with Deacon Bob Grynol officiating.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Couchiching, with Fr. Francis Pudicherry officiating.
Interment will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Couchiching.
The pallbearers will be Terry Tucker, Rick Tucker, Dennis Roach, Jon Roach, Elmer Mainville Jr., Tony Mainville, and John Mainville.
The honourary pallbearers will be Mildred Bruyere, Eleanor Bruyere, Lorna Baker, Shirley M. Bruyere, Melvina Morrisseau, and Mary Jane Mainville.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, 1100A Christie Ave. N., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3W3.
