ARLINE C. WRIGHT

Arline C. Wright of Mt. Clemens, Mich., who will be remembered by her family and friends for her faith in God, devotion to family, and humble service to others, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998 at Intensiva Hospital of Macomb County in Mt. Clemens.
Mrs. Wright was born of Rudolph and Charlotte Himsl on Oct. 30, 1923 in Lumsden, Sask., in the heart of Canada’s beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley. Her family moved east to Ontario in the early 1930s and settled on a farm in Emo, just north of the Minnesota-Ontario border. It was there that she developed the work ethic, love for the outdoors, and homemaking skills that remained her trademarks throughout her lifetime.
She moved to Kitchener, Ont., during World War II, where she held a job with Electrohome. In 1946, she met Milton E. Wright, Jr. in Detroit, Mich. and they were married there Jan. 17, 1948.
Although Mrs. Wright worked at several jobs throughout her lifetime, her primary role, one that she loved and fulfilled so well, was that of homemaker. After her husband, to whom she was married for nearly 51 years, the loves of her live were her children and grandchildren. Their concerns were her concerns, and she demonstrated her love for them in more ways than can be mentioned.
Mrs. Wright loved to garden and truly had a “green thumb.” Plants thrived under her care. She also was recognized by all who knew her as an excellent cook and baker. Her apple pies were arguably the best in the world but, with characteristic humility, she accepted such praise reluctantly. When asked to describe how she made her pie crusts, she would reply that there was no specific recipe; she simply mixed the dough “by feel.”
It was the way she did everything.
She is survived by her husband, Milton; daughters, Jacklynne (Gerard) Guimond of Fort Frances, Ont., and Wendy (Michael) Corrion of Harrison Township; son, Gregory (Suzanne) of Clinton Township; siblings, Victor (Mary) Himsl of Windsor, Ont., Avis (Keith) Halvorsen of Marlboro, Alta., and Virgil (Ginger) Himsl of Kenora, Ont.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
At her request, Mrs. Wright’s body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical Centre for research.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999 at 11 a.m. in St. Thecla Church, 20740 South Nunneley, Clinton Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Thecla, 20740 South Nunneley, Clinton Township, Mich., 48035, or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1760 Mt. Elliott Ave., Detroit, Mich., 48207-3496.
