Archie McPherson, 82, of Lamont, Alta., and formerly of Couchiching First Nation and Ignace, Ont., peacefully made his journey to join our Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017.
Archie was born Ronald McPherson on Nov. 29,1934 at Couchiching First Nation but was known throughout his life as Archie.
He was united in marriage with his soulmate, Marie Storey, on Jan. 12, 1960. In 1974, he moved his family to Ignace, and later moved to Alberta to spend his retirement years.
Archie was predeceased by his wife, Marie; parents, George and Mary; brothers, Rudolph, Leo, Arnold, and Earl; and sisters, Marjorie Morriseau, Amelia Bruyere, Ethel Kenny, Edna Lockhart, and Phyllis Jameus.
He is survived by his son, Russell McPherson of Sooke, B.C., and daughter, Shermalynn Riggs, and her husband, Bruce, of Tofield, Alta.; and three grandchildren, Jessica Stieh and her husband, John, and Nathan McPherson of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Katie McPherson of Victoria, B.C.
He also is survived by four great-grandchildren, Isaac, Amy, Benjamin, and Gariel Stieh, and his brother, Dennis McPherson, all of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Couchiching First Nation.
