Anton (Tony) Hovorka

 It is with great sadness that the family of Anton Hovorka announces his passing on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 94.
Anton was born May 19, 1912 in Mahnomen, Mn. to Anton and Marie Hovorka. In 1943, Anton and his wife, Rosie (nee Klapka) and their three children moved to Rainy River, Ont.
Over the years, he operated numerous businesses, including hauling pulp wood, taxi service, school bus route, and a grocery store and barber shop. In later years, Anton operated a mail route to the Harris Hill area.
Anton later married Margaret (nee Paulson) Antonson, who predeceased him in 1992.
He is lovingly remembered by daughters, Christine Green of International Falls, Mn. and Sylvia Shannon of Renfrew, Ont.; and son, Robert Hovorka of Rainy River, Ont.
He’s also sadly missed by grandchildren, Danny La Pierre (Bonny), Gregory Green (Rhonda), Cindy Lopez, Debby (Shannon), Jerry Jr., and Brett Shannon; and many great grandchildren.
He also is survived by brother, Joseph (Lillian) Hovorka of Vassar, Man.; step-daughter, Irene (Mike) Baranowski of Nestor Falls, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews.
Anton also was predeceased by sister, Annie Szeliga; brother, Frank Hovorka; and step-daughter, Alice Bernst.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Knox United Church in Rainy River, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River.
