Anson Boshkaykin, 90, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at his residence Sunday, March 31, 2002.
He was born March 15, 1912 in Turtle River, Ont.
Anson had lived most of his life in Seine River. He had worked as a trapper, guide, and also was a pulpcutter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a good provider to his family.
Anson is survived by his children, Rose Marie Allen of Bears Pass and Calvin Boshkaykin of Seine River First Nation; and step-children, Clifford Boshkaykin and Mary Boshkaykin, both of Seine River First Nation.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Boshkaykin of Seine River First Nation; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; his second wife, Marlene; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Boshkaykin; brothers, Kesance and Pete; and sisters, Elizabeth, Bessie, and Mary.
A traditional service was held Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Seine River First Nation Band Hall. Interment took place in the Seine River First Nation Cemetery.
A wake was held Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at the Seine River First Nation Band Hall.
