Anne Buyar
Anne passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2008.
She is survived by her loving family, son David and
grandsons Michael, Daniel & Nicholas.
Anne was born on December 15, 1919 in Fort Frances, Ontario.
She was the only child of Maxim and Tatiana Olinyk. She
obtained a diploma in Business Administration and worked as a
bookkeeper and administrative assistant for the Hamilton Coal
Department and Hamilton City Hall.
Upon her return to Fort Frances she met her husband, Anton
(Tony) and was married on October 1, 1947. They operated a
grocery store in Fort Frances for over 20 years. In December 1973
they moved to Vernon, BC where they retired.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, father Maxim in 1962 and her mother Tatiana in 1979. She was predeceased
by her loving husband of 60 years, Anton (Tony) on July 20, 2008.
Anne had a gift for music and was an accomplished singer. She won numerous awards and sang in various choirs.
She had a special love for her church and Ukrainian heritage. She taught Ukrainian and Sunday school. She was
a member of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYMK), Ukrainian Women’s Association for 61 years and was the
President of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Vernon during the past 4 years.
Anne will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her love for her Ukrainian culture and heritage, and
her deep spiritual faith. She was very resourceful and compassionate and set a wonderful example for those who
were close to her.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff on 3E at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the
excellent care given her.
The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian
Orthodox Church of the Assumption (Dormition) of St. Mary in Vernon, BC with the Very
Reverend Archpriest Fr. Isadore Woronchak offi ciating. Interment will be in Fort Frances,
Ontario. Arrangements were in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 250-542-0155.
