ANNA BELLE COOPER

Anna Belle Cooper (nee Norris) passed away Monday, July 25, 2011.
She was born Aug. 8, 1924 to Nora and John Norris.
Anna Belle was the sister of Dick Norris and Mamie Currell; wife of Leonard Cooper; mother of John Cooper (Gail), Joan Warner (John), and David Cooper (Joanne); and grandmother of James and Ryan, Tim and Don, and Rick and Robyn.
Anna Belle was a lover of the outdoors, especially the sunshine. Along with her family, she loved the farm near Emo, Ont., and the animals and working outdoors there.
As a young person, she enjoyed playing ball, and her sense of humour followed her throughout her life. She also loved to sing while she worked.
She was a baker of wonderful pies and bread. When it was time to return home from school, her children were welcomed home with a fresh homemade treat and a mother interested in all their daily doings.
After selling the family farm, Leon and Anna Belle retired to the cabin at Footprint Lake. They also travelled to Newfoundland, Alaska, and Florida, and enjoyed snowmobiling and ice-fishing in the winter. This was a time of great joy in their lives together.
Anna Belle was an avid walker, and enjoyed swimming at the cabin and in the pool in Fort Frances. Her pool friends graciously helped Anna Belle in many ways as her health declined, and with cousins and friends, enabled Anna Belle to remain in her Shevlin Towers apartment for as long as possible.
Anna Belle loved her Scrabble group, as well as her friends who continued to visit and brought her so much pleasure.
Anna Belle’s treasures were not silver or gold, but rather the much more valuable family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Rainycrest Long-Term Care (Hallett Hall) in Fort Frances.
