ANNA AUGUSTA MORKEN

Anna Augusta (Wold) Morken, 90, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Anna was born Oct. 23, 1914 in Winona, Mn. to the late Melvin and Augusta Wold. As a child, she moved with her family to Northbranch, Ont.
On April 27, 1936, she was united in marriage to Paul Morken. They settled just north of Stratton, Ont. and together they farmed and raised their family. They also raised numerous foster children over the years.
In 1996, she moved to Emo, Ont. after selling the farm.
Anna enjoyed knitting, gardening, and helping on the farm. She was a good cook and was known for baking her great pies.
Most of all, though, she loved being a home-maker and taking care of her family, which were foremost in her life.
Left to celebrate the life of Anna are her daughters, Irene Locey of International Falls, Mn. and Hazel and husband, Bob Gratton, of Windsor, Ont.; and sons, Melvin and wife, Eleanor, of Fort Frances, Ont., Edward and wife, Faye, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Wayne of Alberta.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Terri, Laurie, Gene, Linda, Paul, Michele, Dean, Shawna, Melissa, and Amanda; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Gilbert, and Pat Gilbert and wife, Poppy, all of Savannah, Ill.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul; parents, Melvin and Augusta Wold; step-father, Tom Gilbert; son-in-law, Lyle Locey and granddaughter, Debbie (Locey) Julien; and sisters, Louise Sprung and Florence Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Clifford Fedorchuk officiating.
Interment will take place in the Chapple Cemetery in Barwick, Ont. at a later date.
Friends may visit prior to the funeral service on Friday at the funeral home.
The honourary pallbearers will be Jeff Zahn, Dean Morken, Charlie Morken, Stan Olson, Leonard Stafford, and Don Strom.
