ALYSE ELLEN DUNCAN

Alyse Duncan, 78, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, and formerly of 851 Colonization Rd. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, April 12, 1999 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
She was born Jan. 7, 1921 in Shaunavon, Sask. to the late Charles and Kate McGillvray. In 1946, Alyse moved to Rainy River District and settled in Fort Frances.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Standford Minall in 1962. On Jan. 25, 1969, Alyse was united in marriage to Frederick (Fred) Duncan.
Alyse worked as secretary at the Fort Frances Clinic for several years until her retirement in 1970. She also was a member of Knox United Church, the United Church Women (U.C.W.) Unit 7, Rainycrest Auxiliary, La Verendrye General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and Redwing Rebekah Lodge #109, and was past-president of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed bowling, curling, gardening, crafts, knitting, and fishing. She also loved the outdoors in general, and the many wonderful summers at their cabin on Black Island on Rainy Lake.
She was predeceased by one brother, Stewart McGillvray.
Alyse is survived by her husband, Fred of Fort Frances, Ont.; two daughters, Marion and husband, Rodger Snow, of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Shirley and husband, Terry Brennan, of North Delta, B.C.; four grandchildren, Kelli and husband, Greg Stiletto, of Toronto, Ont., Rodger Snow Jr. of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Brian and Julie Brennan of North Delta, B.C.; one great-grandson, Tate Snow of Thunder Bay, Ont.; one stepdaughter, Lynda and husband, Ross Chessell, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and one stepson, Terrence Duncan and wife, Doreen, of Regina, Sask.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Patrick Playfair will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The Legion Br. 29 Ladies Auxiliary Colour Guard will provide their tribute following the service.
Friends may visit Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. A Redwing Rebekah Lodge memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m
Pallbearers will be Rodger Snow Jr., Brian Brennan, Rodger Snow, Terry Brennen, Terry Duncan, and Ross Chessell.
Honourary pallbearers will be Betty Cawston, Mihlan Cawston, Barry Cox, Betty Cox, Lois Witherspoon, Eva Hallikas, Norma Perlette, Fern Pochailo, Irene Herrem, and Gladys Steele.
