Alvina (Dolly) McPherson, 77, of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., passed away suddenly Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Brunette Medical Center in Grantsburg, Wis.
Alvina was born Feb. 18, 1927 in Couchiching First Nation to the late Charles and Ann Jane Bruyere. She attended boarding school at Couchiching First Nation in her earlier years.
On June 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to George McPherson.
Dolly was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. She also worked for many years as a community health representative at Couchiching First Nation until her retirement in 1992.
She loved fishing, camping, and travelling to various parts of the country with her family and friends. Dolly especially enjoyed family functions, like Christmas and other family holidays.
Her fondest memory was when she attended an outdoor mass in Des Moine, Iowa with Pope John Paul II.
Dolly will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, George McPherson Jr. in 1994; and one sister, Margaret Crowe.
Dolly is survived by three daughters, Donna Hayes of International Falls, Mn., Janice (Blair) Parks of Fort Frances, Ont., and Kathy (Brian) Perrault of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; one son, Chuck (Brenda) McPherson of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; grandchildren, Stephen Parks and fiancee, Angela, and Michael Parks, Marc (Lisa), Scott, and Marty McPherson, Miranda and fiance, Josh, of Winnipeg, Man., and Trevor Perrault, and Rhoda Lee Gillmier of Winnipeg, Man.; and great-grandchildren, Denae and Calen Carevic, Brody George McPherson, and Nadia, Sammi Jo and Brett.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Rose Baille of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Josephine Bruyere of Couchiching First Nation, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Couchiching First Nation, with Fr. Rey Ronquillo officiating.
Interment will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Couchiching First Nation at a later date.
Friends may visit Thursday, June 3, 2004 from 7-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 7 p.m.
The pallbearers will be Stephen Parks, Michael Parks, Marc McPherson, Scott McPherson, Marty McPherson, Trevor Perrault, Calen Carevic, and Brody McPherson.
